Electrician Diploma

This program offers an industry-recognized curriculum providing the basic knowledge and skills in applied electrical theory. Students will develop entry-level skills and knowledge needed for residential, commercial, and industrial wiring, blueprint reading, estimating, building codes and national codes. Important safety practices are strongly emphasized while working on electrical circuits and in the use of test equipment and hand and power tools. The program also provides students an opportunity to develop their electrical skills to enable them to work with AC and DC motors, controls, distribution panels.  

Within 2 years of their graduation date, students who have completed the WITCC Electrician Diploma Program and who have been working in the Electrical industry have the opportunity to enroll into the WITCC Electrical Apprenticeship Program as a second-year apprentice. Former students who have graduated from WITCC Electrician Diploma Program outside of their 2-year graduation date are required to take an assessment exam and pass that exam with a 75%.  Passing the exam, the former student will have the opportunity to begin the WITCC Apprenticeship Program as a second-year apprentice.  In order for any individual to enroll into an apprenticeship program, they must be sponsored by their employer.  Upon completion of the Dept. of Labor approved Electrical Apprenticeship Program the apprentice will receive a completion certificate that is recognized Nationally and will be eligible to take the State of Iowa Journeyman’s Electrician licensing exam.
