3creditsThis course acquaints the student with the sociological approach to understanding issues facing diverse populations. This course provides insight into barriers faced by race and ethnic groups and ways in which these barriers are navigated. The study of race and ethnicity includes a comprehensive examination of whiteness as a race, and the privilege of whiteness nationally and globally. Issues of race and ethnicity are presented through a global lens, primarily through theories of Diasporas. Prior completion of SOC 110 Introduction to Sociology is recommended.
