SDV 043 - Communicating Effectively in Western Societies
3creditsThis course teaches principles of effective Western communication in one-to-one relationships and in small groups. It focuses on communication theory, listening, self-concept, language, perception, and nonverbal communication. Emphasis is placed on effective communication strategies for American academic settings for non-native English speakers. Recommendation: Students should achieve level III or higher ESL scores in Listening & Speaking to achieve maximum benefit of this course. Course may be repeated for credit. This course does not fulfill WITCC’s general education requirements.
