1creditsThis course assists the eligible Child Development Associate (CDA) credential candidate with developing and preparing for the Preschool, Infant-Toddler or Family Child Care CDA verification visit and assessment. Students will develop a professional portfolio which includes their professional philosophy statement and various educational artifacts. General topics for discussion include: planning a safe, healthy learning environment, steps to advance children’s physical and intellectual development, positive ways to support children’s social and emotional development, strategies to establish productive relationships with families and effective program operation, maintaining a commitment to professionalism, observing and recording children’s behavior and principles of child growth and development. This course is offered online via the Iowa Community College Online Consortium.
