DEA 830 - RDA Nitrous Oxide Monitoring

This course is designed to provide the theoretical concepts and skills associated with monitoring of nitrous oxide and oxygen sedation. Course content provides the student with awareness of the indications and contraindications for nitrous oxide and oxygen sedation use, a working knowledge of the equipment, understanding of the procedure for administering nitrous oxide and oxygen sedation, and prepares the student to monitor nitrous oxide and oxygen sedation. Prerequisite:
To be eligible to register for this course, students must:

1.Be a graduate of an ADA-accredited dental assistant program; or

2. Be currently certified by the Dental Assisting National Board; or

3. Have at least one year of clinical practice as a registered dental assistant; or

4. Have at least one year of clinical practice as a dental assistant in a state that does not require registration;

and

5. Be employed by a licensed dentist and whose policies allow the dental assistant to perform procedures related to the expanded scope of practice
