CRJ 253 - Basic Firearms

3 credits

This course covers handgun and shotgun nomenclature, range safety, range etiquette, marksmanship, weapon care, and cleaning procedures for different types of firearms. Basic combat training and familiarization with revolvers and the 12 gauge shotgun is also covered. This course is limited to the student who has successfully completed the prerequisites. The student shall submit and pay for a criminal history check to be run by the college through the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation. A felony or history of domestic abuse is reason for rejection.
