BIO 151 - Nutrition

3 credits
This course presents the relationship between proper nutrition and good health. Topics covered include digestion, absorption, and metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids and proteins. Also included are vitamins, minerals, physical activity, maintenance of a healthy body weight, nutritional needs throughout the entire life cycle, and evaluation of nutritional claims.

Prerequisite:
Meet ONE of the following: 1) ACT Composite of 22 or higher 2) 2 semesters of High School Chemistry with a B- or better OR 1 semester of High School Chemistry with a B- or better and 1 semester of High School Biology with a B- or better 3) Completion with a C- or better in BIO 163   Essentials of Anatomy & Physiology or Chemistry (CHM 122   or higher) 4) Instructor Permission to enroll in the course
