This program prepares individuals to pursue a career as a licensed plumber. Plumbers make it possible to transport water, air, steam, gases, wastes, and different kinds of liquids throughout all types of buildings, from homes and offices to factories and hospitals. The students will have hands-on opportunities to install, maintain, and repair plumbing pipes, fixtures and appliances. This program also includes instruction in blueprint reading and final inspection and testing of all finished systems while adhering to the local codes and standards that are enforced by the State of Iowa.

Within 2 years of their graduation date, students who have completed the WITCC Plumbing Diploma Program and who have been working in the plumbing industry have the opportunity to enroll into the WITCC Plumbing Apprenticeship Program as a second-year apprentice. Former students who have graduated from WITCC Plumbing Diploma Program outside of their 2-year graduation date are required to take an assessment exam and pass that exam with a 75%.  Passing the exam, the former student will have the opportunity to begin the WITCC Apprenticeship Program as a second-year apprentice.  In order for any individual to enroll into an apprenticeship program, they must be sponsored by their employer.  Upon completion of the Dept. of Labor approved Plumbing Apprenticeship Program the apprentice will receive a completion certificate that is recognized Nationally and will be eligible to take the State of Iowa Journeyman’s plumbing licensing exam.
