PTA 182 - Applied Therapeutic Modalities in Rehabilitation 3 credits This course emphasizes the integration of physical agents into therapeutic interventions for pain management, edema reduction, tissue healing, and integumentary care. Students learn safe application, patient instruction, and evidence-based reasoning to combine modalities with exercise and manual techniques that promote functional outcomes. The course also introduces students to selected emerging or contemporary modalities utilized in clinical practice. Emphasis is placed on the role of the physical therapist assistant in applying foundational knowledge of physical agents within the plan of care to enhance patient recovery and performance.
