SUR 130 - Introduction to Surgical Technology

This course provides the student with basic surgical protocols and procedures. Course components include responsibilities, characteristics, and interpersonal relationships of the Surgical Technologist. Included are historical development, professional organizations, law and ethics, and medical terminology. In addition, students will become familiar with the hospital organization, administration, and physical structure, occupational hazards, disaster preparedness, safety precautions and infection control standards. Instructor consent required.
